Who we are

I'm Hooked Fishing Charters is a fishing charter business operated by Mal on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website and over the phone, how we use it and how you can ask about it.

What we collect

We only collect what we need to run a charter and keep in touch with you.

• Bookings: your name, email address and phone number, the names of the other people in your group, the charter, date and departure time you choose, any notes you add, and any gift voucher code you use.
• Gift voucher orders: your name, email and phone, and the name and email of the person the voucher is for, along with any message you add for them.
• Newsletter: your name and email address when you sign up.
• Contact: your name, email and message when you send one through the site.
• Phone bookings and enquiries: the same details, taken down by Mal.

We do not collect payment card details on this website. Payment is arranged with Mal directly.

How we use it

• To run your charter: confirming the booking, telling you where and when to meet, and contacting you if the weather changes the plan.
• To issue and honour gift vouchers, including emailing the voucher to the person it is for.
• To answer your questions and enquiries.
• To send the newsletter, fishing reports and charter specials, if you have signed up. Every email includes an unsubscribe link.
• To keep a record of your past trips so we can look after returning customers.

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.

Photos

Mal likes to photograph a good catch and may share it on the I'm Hooked social media pages and this website. If you would rather not appear, tell Mal on the day and he will leave you out. If a photo of you is already published and you would like it removed, contact us and we will take it down.

Where your information is kept

Booking, voucher, customer and newsletter records are stored in a database hosted by Supabase. The website is hosted by Cloudflare. Emails from us are sent through Resend. These providers process your information only to provide those services to us.

Access to the records is limited to Mal and the people who help run the business, and is protected by sign-in.

How long we keep it

We keep booking and customer records for as long as we need them to run the business and meet our record-keeping obligations. Gift voucher records are kept for the life of the voucher and for our accounts afterwards. If you unsubscribe from the newsletter, we stop emailing you straight away and keep only what is needed to make sure we do not email you again.

Cookies and tracking

This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. The booking form may keep what you have typed in your own browser so you do not lose it if you refresh the page. That stays on your device and is not sent to us until you submit the form.

Children

Bookings are made by adults. Where a child comes on a charter, we collect only their name as part of the passenger list, provided by the adult who booked.

Your choices

• You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any email, or by contacting us.
• You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. We will do so unless we need to keep it for a booking that has not happened yet, a voucher that is still valid, or our accounts.
• You can make a booking or order a voucher by phone instead of through the website if you prefer.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and the date at the top. Anything significant will also go out in the newsletter.
