Looking for Snapper outside the traditional October–December run? This is the charter for you, and it runs every month of the year. Because it can be challenging to catch Snapper off-peak, Mal is always ready to switch to Whiting or Squid to make sure you have the best chance at bringing home a great catch.
Our mixed bag charters operate from Martha Cove or Hastings, giving access to the most productive grounds in both Port Phillip and Western Port bays. Early in the season, Hastings is often the better launch point. Mal will always confirm your departure location ahead of time.
This is the perfect charter for those who want a fun, productive day on the water without being locked into one species. Mal's adaptability is your advantage.

Calamari (Squid)
Highly sought after and superb eating. Mal knows the best squid grounds and has the gear to get them.
Flathead
Reliable bottom-dwellers that provide great sport and make for excellent fish and chips when you get home.

A valid Victorian fishing licence is required. Available online at vfa.vic.gov.au.
Common Questions
Which fish will we target on the day?
Mal decides on the day based on what's biting, the weather, and tides. He'll always give you the best chance of going home with a great feed. Sometimes that means switching between Snapper, Whiting, and Squid.
Can I catch Snapper outside of October–December?
Yes, Snapper can be caught year-round, though it can be more challenging off-peak. The Mixed Bag charter gives you the best odds by adapting to what's running at the time.
Do you clean our fish?
No, but we will bleed them once caught and have them placed on ice to keep them in the best condition.
Do I have to fight the fish by myself?
You can take it in turns. Some fish can take time to bring in. We always leave that question to the person on the rod.
Do I have to wear a life jacket?
When going through Port Phillip heads every person on the boat must wear a life jacket, then it is up to you once we are out of the heads.
What is the minimum age for children?
In the bays, we recommend children aged 5 and above.
